A Friendship Written in Pixels
During my first year of university, everything happened through a screen. Online classes felt distant, and I never expected to find a genuine friendship there. Then I met someone who felt strangely familiar—as if I had known her long before we exchanged our first hello. This was one of the very first poems I ever wrote, dedicated to the friend who reminded me that meaningful connections can begin in the most unexpected places.
Meant to Meet
I met someone.
Someone amazing.
Someone who I can relate to very well.
Someone who shows appreciation and love.
Our faces we saw on screen,
But never saw one another in person.
The same class was how we met,
And we knew that there was something special.
We talked all day,
Just with words and nothing more.
We share our lives with each other,
And enjoyed every minute of our time together.
Now you may ask,
Is it a guy? Is it a girl?
Or is it just a friend?
And why is this person so special to you?
A friend is what I call her.
An extremely good friend I would say.
Similar interest, similar personalities,
We clicked immediately.
The more we talk to each other,
The more we start to feel like we’ve known each other for a long time.
This feeling you may say,
It felt like home.
I can’t express how much I love and appreciate this person.
And I know that when we eventually meet in person,
We would be best friends forever.
Always there for one another.
To my wonderful, amazing friend,
We have yet to see each other,
To get to know each other more.
But nothing will ever feel the same when we first met.
Because we were Meant to Meet.
