When Opposites Bloom

During my final year production, I became fascinated by the idea that two people could be completely different and still bring out the best in one another. Inspired by a friendship from university, this poem explores how contrasting personalities can collide, soften, and eventually become something wonderfully whole.

The First Meet

With one look, comes an unexpected

encounter of two distinct souls,

Coming together,

Creating a world unlike any.

Like a solar eclipse,

Made by the Sun and Moon.

When joy meets tenderness like a happy child

Admiring his first snowfall,

And a heart-warming baby-like smile

that grows with a hidden spirit

like the soaring mountains,

Awakening a new force of both

fiery and softness.

Its different energies may collide,

Causing an unfavourable feeling,

Like magnets that retract each other.

But if the right energy is found,

They will bind like love

that connects two hearts.
