Pinterest Inspiration:

-The simplicity of the design first caught my attention. 

-It spoke to me because it is simple and easy to adjust according to skill level.

-I like it when a design is easy on the eyes and allows space to make any adjustments. 

Changes made in Stitch Fiddle

-For my first tapestry, I did not make any changes to the design. I only made changes to the colours. I changed the background to a light lake blue colour to match the Mercedes AMG Team colours. 

Overall Mood

-There is a degree of softness in the bright colours. It also makes the silhouette of the helmet appear softer even though it’s black. 

Materials

-Yarn Brand: Milk Cotton

-8 PLY

-Hook Size: 5mm

-Colour Used: Light Lake Blue & Black

-Finished Size: 30 x 30 squares

Tension

-Tension was quite tight when it comes to the colour changes. But it became more flexible when it came to the single colour sections.

Colour Work

-The silhouette area was the tough part due to colour changes. 

Hand & Wrist Comfort 

-Wrist and fingers were pretty exhausted after I finished it because my hands are still learning to adjust to the tension during colour changes. 

Yarn Behaviour 

-Both yarn colours were easy to use and are very smooth. It only became tight during the colour changes.

Start: Row 1 - Row 7

Middle: Row 8 - Row 22

End: Row 23 - Row 30

Lessons Learned

-Light Lake Blue and Black go well together. 

-Tying knots for every colour change makes the tapestry less flexible. 

-Crocheting in the extra ends and hanging yarn will make the tapestry look more seamless. 

-Need to use softer and smoother yarns for more flexible tension and flatter outcome.

Personal Reflection 

I felt very proud at the end of it because I finally made my first tapestry, with no guidance. I learned a lot along the way and I am very happy that I finally started learning a crochet art form that I have always wanted to learn. Lastly, I am very happy that I made my first tapestry, an F1 related tapestry, adding my first item to my F1 handmade merch, since I can’t afford the actual merch.
