For The Ones Who Showed Up
Not every meaningful connection is meant to become a love story. Some people simply arrive during our hardest seasons, offer kindness without expecting anything in return, and quietly change the way we see the world. This poem is a thank-you to the friend who reminded me that being seen, encouraged, and cared for is a gift I'll always cherish.
The Way You Made Me Smile
The first look into your sweet almond eyes,
And the sound of your gentle voice,
That was the first time we met and spoke,
Even though I was nothing more than an intern.
Everytime you came up to me, Just to say hello,
It makes my tummy tickle,
And my heart can't help but beat a little faster.
Normally, everyday seemed like a loop that never ends,
From waking up, to work, to study, to sleeping.
But the thought of meeting you again,
Even just for a music show,
It gave me a purpose to get my day going.
A day where everything seemed the same, Became a happy place,
That filled my bucket of growth, learning and happiness.
I remember the day where my heart felt so heavy,
So heavy that I covered myself in fear and doubts.
But everything disappeared when I felt a light tap on my back.
I don't know how but you instantly wiped my tears
With your kind and encouraging words,
And all the grey clouds that rained over my head
Turned into rays of sunshine,
Reminding me of the good things in life.
I know that 3 blocks of words may not be enough
To truly express how I felt.
But at least I know one thing,
Meeting you was a BLESSING,
And being your friend is a GIFT.
Because when i look back at the memories,
I will always remember
The Way You Made Me Smile.
